Gluten-Free Christmas Wish List

I’m sure all of us who are gluten-free wish for certain things that would help make our lives better and easier. I decided to put together a gluten-free Christmas wish list with some of the things I wish we had or at least had available to us.

  • More accurate testing for celiac disease, even when the damage isn’t yet present or when the person has already started a gluten-free diet.

  • Treat gluten like the top eight allergens are treated when it comes to food labeling.

  • Make shared equipment/shared facilities advisories for allergens and gluten mandatory on food labels.

  • Gluten-Free Krispy Kreme doughnuts…where you can’t tell the difference between those and the regular ones.

  • A local gluten-free bakery that makes gluten-free sheet cakes. I haven’t had a slice of sheet cake with buttercream icing on it in ages! A corner piece would be glorious!

  • Official tests and diagnoses for non-celiac gluten disorders.

  • No gluten-free jokes from those who don’t understand the gluten-free life or just want to denigrate it.

  • Never, ever having to worry about gluten cross-contamination.

  • Better support and understanding for those in the gluten-free community.

  • Being able to wash my hands like a normal person instead of practically all the time when I’m in the kitchen or needing to eat something.

  • More awareness and understanding from those in the restaurant industry and other types of food industries.

  • Understanding of the distinction between those who are gluten-free by choice or dietary reasons/preference and those who are gluten-free because of an official diagnosis of celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, or other medical need.

  • A body transplant. Having a body that can have regular food and has flawless skin would be awesome!

  • Decent store-bought gluten-free bread. Just having larger slices would make me happy!

  • More doctors who understand celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders and that actually care about their patients. They take time to listen and answer questions rather than rushing their patients out the door.

  • Real cures for celiac disease and gluten-related disorders

  • 100% gluten-free fast food joints!

Please feel free to include your own wish list items in the comments section, and finally…

I've been struggling with the gluten-free life since September 11, 2012. While I've dealt with many inconveniences and difficulties on the journey, I do feel that my health is slowly but surely improving. I'm a Christian who loves being involved in her church. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love science fiction and fantasy television shows and movies. I love to read. I love my job as a programmer/analyst. I love grocery shopping and shopping for electronics and books.
